India’s Oil & Gas (O&G) sector is a cornerstone of its economic development, significantly contributing to its emergence as the world’s 4th largest economy. Refining Capacity & Export Growth

  • Refineries: India boasts 23 refineries with a nameplate refining capacity of 258.1 MMTPA and a crude oil processing capacity of 267.7 MMT, operating at an impressive utilization rate of ~103%.

  • Global Standing: Ranked as the 3rd largest refiner in Asia and 4th globally.

  • Decadal Growth: Achieved ~18% growth in crude oil refining capacities from 2013 to 2023, second only to China.

  • POL Exports: Exported 65.1 million tonnes of petroleum products, marking a 4.0% YoY growth, generating ₹3.8 lakh crore in revenue.

  • Packaged Domestic LPG: 53.4 lakh cylinders/day (14.2 kg each).
